India is witnessing a severe second wave of Covid-19 and many states are struggling to cope with the rising Coronavirus numbers. India’s most populous state Uttar Pradesh (UP) is among the worst affected states in the country. Yogi government claims that the situation is under control and there is no scarcity of medical liquid oxygen (MLO) and medicine. However, situation on ground is entirely different. Common people are suffering. Hospitals are full. Hospitals are turning away patients.
Prayagraj, one of the largest cities of Uttar Pradesh, is also reeling under a severe second wave of COVID-19. Prayagraj (Allahabad) administration claimed that new covid cases in the district were on decrease on two consecutive days, on April 24 and 25. Administration also claimed that only 11 people died of COVID on April 25. To verify these numbers and check the ground situation, Team Lallantop visited Fafamau shamshan Ghat in Prayagraj (Allahabad). Fafamau cremation grounds of Kanpur present a starkly different picture. Funeral pyres are burning round the clock at cremation grounds. Conditions at Fafamau shamshan were chaotic. Not a single government employee was present there. Watch this video for more details.
